International Research Conference 2021

The London School of Management Education’s 8^th Annual International Research Conference on was held from 26^th – 27^th August 2021. This year the theme of the conference was pinned on ‘Sustainable Development and Education’. The theme was derived from the suggestions of the participants of the previous conference and the currency and the relevancy of the topic and its interdependence. It is intended to encourage contributions from forward-thinking academics and practitioners about the vital role to be played by education in addressing the many and varied challenges facing humanity at this time of the global pandemic and climatic catastrophes.

LSME continues to champion the concept of Responsible Research and Innovations (RRI) through its international conferences. LSME Conferences are a welcoming platform for earlier career researchers from around the world to interact with seasoned researchers and academics to hone their skills.

This year’s sub-themes presented as suggestions for the researchers included:

• Management
• Lifelong Learning
• Socio-Political Policy and its Impact on Learning Opportunities and Outcomes
• Targeted Education for Sustainable Development
• Economic and Social Impact of Education
• Planning and Provision for ‘The New Normal’
• Future Learning Paradigms and Implications
• Technology Impacts in Education Settings (e.g. Technology Driving Education Driving Technology)
• Education Research

The conference was inaugurated by Lord Sheikh and among the Guests of Honour were Lady Sheikh, H.E. Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, Chief of Protocol of Government of Nepal, Prof Rajan Welukar, Vice Chancellor of Auro University, India, Professor Petra Molthan-Hill of the Nottingham Trent University and Dr Peter Gray of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. The Conference Convener Dr Ravi Kumar, the Conference Chairperson, Professor Stephen McKinney and the Principal of LSME, Dr Sarita Parhi were present to provide the guidance and necessary support to ensure the smooth running of the Conference.

The Valedictory Session of the Conference was honoured by the presence of the H.E Dr Ibrahim Hassan, the Minister of Higher Education of the Maldives as the Chief Guest. The Conference concluded on a positive note; everyone inspired and looking forward to the LSME Research Book 2022 and the next conference.
