Job Title: Lecturer in Health and Social Care


Job Purpose
: LSME is a fast growing OfS registered Higher Education Provider in London, offering training in Teaching, Business Management and Health and Social Care. The College is currently looking for a Lecturer for the Health and Social Care Department to teach University validated BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care Management programme, and the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Health and Social Care programmes.

Reports to: The Principal and the Programme Leader

Responsibilities

  • Be fully conversant with the specification and learning materials for the module(s) taught.
  • Update the content and/or reading lists for the module(s) taught.
  • Attend any induction and training sessions specified by LSME.
  • Develop a Teaching Scheme to deliver the specified number of Lectures/ seminars/ workshops as laid down in LSME guidance.
  • Devise an assessment strategy for each module they teach to be approved by the University.
  • Create a marking scheme for each individual assessment to be approved by the University.
  • Immediately inform the Programme Leader and/or LSME’s Principal of any issues concerning the student learning experience that need to be addressed.
  • Identify any student who is not performing adequately and inform the Programme Leader of what additional support is being provided.
  • To accept that the University can make both announced and unannounced visits to observe teaching, and to co-operate with such visits.
  • Provide formative feedback as well as overall summative assessment of student work and keep a record of student achievement.
  • Provide a written report at the end of each module taught.
  • To be available to meet with the University link tutor, as required.
  • Assist in the appointment of a representative from each group of students they teach to provide feedback to relevant Programme Committees.
  • Attend relevant Programme Committee meetings.
  • Conform to the Policies and Procedures of LSME and the University in such areas as (but not limited to) equal opportunities, health and safety, etc.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade, and/or hours of work, as may reasonably be required of the applicant.


PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in a Health and Social Care or Management related subject or equivalent.

Proven experience:

  • At least 3 years teaching experience in teaching University programmes and working in a Higher Education establishment.
  • Online/blended teaching skills and experience.
  • Good IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and online teaching platforms, such as Zoom.


Delivering academic and service excellence:

  • Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
  • Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
  • Ability to maintain thorough and organized student records.
  • Punctuality and ability to follow procedures.


Managing self and inspiring others:

  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Commitment to self-improvement and open to constructive feedback.


Working together:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Organisational and stakeholder awareness:
