Job Title: Lecturer for Diploma in Education and Training Programme

Purpose of the job:

London School of Management Education (LSME) is a Higher Education provider based in East London with niche areas of Business Management, Hospitality Management, Health and Social Care and Teacher Training. LSME is a forward-thinking, fast-paced, highly innovative college looking to build a team of creative and competent staff. The College is currently looking for a qualified, competent and experienced Lecturer to deliver Pearson Diploma in Education and Training (DET) programme for students who wish to pursue a career in teaching.

General Responsibilities:

The general responsibilities of the Lecturer are to provide comprehensive lecturing/tutorial, assignment and assessment services to students, and monitor their attendance & academic progress. The lecturer, to assist the student in his/her education, will effectively utilise the resources of LSME. The Lecturer will provide feedback to inform supervising staff about the progress of their students.

The lecturer is required to:

  • Teach, inspire, motivate, and encourage all students.
  • Arrive at every session punctually and create a productive teaching/tutoring atmosphere utilising adequate and well-prepared resources.
  • Prepare all course material and resources in advance of the session.
  • Learn and follow the strategic tutoring methods to achieve the goals in each student’s learning plan.
  • Address students’ immediate educational concerns at each session, while adhering to the strategic tutoring method.
  • Review what was taught at each session and report on students’ progress accordingly.
  • Maintain a record of students’ attendance & progress, feedback and performance.
  • Communicate with and respond to requests from awarding bodies via email/phone/mail.
  • Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, reduce anxiety and support raising their attainment.
  • Assist students in achieving better understanding of specific subject material and in improving their academic capabilities in designated areas.
  • Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
  • Attend all required training and meetings.
  • Undertake other responsibilities, within the pay grade that may be assigned to the Lecturer.
  • Plan and implement effective classroom management practices and design and implement effective strategies to develop self-responsible and independent learners.
  • Guide students effectively and provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate is expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education.
  • PGCE (preferable).
  • At least three years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with Pearson DET programme (preferable).
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Lecturer in Business Management

Job Title: Lecturer in Business Management

Job Purpose: London School of Management Education (LSME) is a Higher Education provider based in East London with niche areas of Business Management, Hospitality Management, Health and Social Care and Teacher Training. LSME is a forward-thinking, fast-paced, highly innovative college looking to build a team of creative and competent staff. The College is currently looking for a Lecturer for the Business Management Department to teach University validated BSc (Hons) Business Management and the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Be fully conversant with the specification and learning materials for the module(s) taught.
  • Update the content and/or reading lists for the module(s) taught.
  • Attend and participate in induction, staff development programme and other trainings as required.
  • Develop a Teaching Scheme to deliver the specified number of Lectures/ seminars/ workshops as per guidance.
  • Develop assessment strategy for each module for approval of the University.
  • Create a marking scheme for each individual assessment for approval of the University.
  • Address issues concerning the student learning experience in consultation with the Principal and the Programme Leader.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and organise appropriate support.
  • Attend to announced and unannounced University visits to observe teaching and to co-operate with such visits.
  • Provide formative feedback as well as overall summative assessment of student work and keep a record of student achievement.
  • Provide a written report at the end of each module taught.
  • To be available to meet with the University link tutor, as required.
  • Assist in the appointment of a representative from each group of students they teach to provide feedback to relevant Programme Committees.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Management or related field with teaching qualifications.

Proven experience:

  • Preferably 3 years’ teaching experience in University programmes and working in a Higher Education establishment in the UK.
  • Online/blended teaching skills and experience.
  • Good IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and online teaching platforms, such as Zoom and MS Teams.

Outreach Student Support Coordinator

Key Job Responsibilities – Widening Access and Outreach Student Support

  • Support Admissions Team in enrolling target students and provide assistance in their admission process.
  • Schedule the tutoring sessions for target students, coordinate with the tutors delivering the sessions, and monitor and assess the sessions.
  • Monitor the progress of target students and coordinate with Academic Team to improve their attendance and results.
  • Extending the network of partnerships.

It is currently seeking a suitable candidate to implement LSME’s Access and Participation Plan with a major focus on developing partnerships and collaborations with relevant employees, Schools, Colleges and other key stakeholders. This post is currently announced as a maternity cover; however, based on the candidate’s performance, the post can be extended beyond one year.

Reports to: Head of Access and Participation
