Black History Month Celebration

Black History Month is celebrated in the UK to recognise and honour the contributions and achievements of Black people throughout history, as well as to raise awareness of the historical and ongoing struggles Black communities face, both globally and within the UK. It highlights the important role that Black individuals have played in shaping British history and culture, which is often overlooked or underrepresented in mainstream narratives. This year’s Black History Month theme is “Reclaiming Narratives,” focusing on recognising and correcting the stories of Black history and culture.

As part of Black History Month celebrations, on 21^st October 2024, LSME arranged classroom activities to create awareness among students and educate them about important people, events, and organisations in Black history and to give them a place to share their opinions, thoughts, ideas, and discoveries in a fun and collaborative way.

LSME continues to appreciate the contributions of Black people, and continue to foster an inclusive environment for all.
