LSME 2017 CONVOCATION & 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The London School of Management Education (LSME) held its Annual Convocation and 10th Year Anniversary Celebration on 22 September 2017 at the Grange City Hotel in London. The event also marked the 10th anniversary celebration of the institution.
Over two hundred and fifty people attended the Ceremony to witness the presentation of Diplomas and Special Awards to the Graduating class of 2017 for the Diploma in Education and Training Qualification, the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care and the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Business qualifications.
The event was honoured by the presence of The Lord Truscott from the House of Lords as the Chief Guest His Excellencies Mr. Hassan Shifau – Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of Maldives, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, the Ambassador of the Nepalese Embassy to the United Kingdom, Dr John Oliphant, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho. A representative from Bangladesh High Commission and dignitaries from academic sector were also present.
A welcome address by the Principal of the College, Dr Sarita Parhi, congratulated the graduating class and members of staff of the institution for their outstanding efforts in supporting their learners during their academic journey. She reiterated areas for further developments including employer engagement and research development.
In his keynote address, Lord Truscott congratulated the graduating students for their achievement and praised the efforts of the academic staff and management of LSME. He urged the graduands never to lose the sense of possibilities and optimism that led them to LSME in the first place. H.E. Mr. Hassan Shifau reiterated the importance of perseverance and hard work and commended the directors of the institution for their astounding and relentless efforts.
Dr Peter Gray paid tribute to the staff, Principal and Director of the institution and advised the new graduates to embrace the need to be responsible in order to succeed in their career endeavors. Professor Stephen McKinney advised the graduands to do things they are really passionate about and do the best they possibly can as this brings about more opportunities. H.E. Dr Subedi reminded the graduating students of his own experience and advised them to persevere in their efforts to attain successful carriers and to contribute positively in their local communities. Other speakers congratulated the newly qualified professionals and urged them to remain empowered by their achievement to reach out to others and challenge boundaries and obstacles that may stand in their way.
The successful graduates were conferred with their Diplomas. Special Awards were presented to outstanding graduates in recognition of their individual accomplishments throughout their study period and to student volunteers who participated in the organizing and smooth running of the event.
Simona Popiti
(Student of the Year 2017)
The overall Best Students of the Year Awards were presented to Ms Simona Popiti and Mr Jegatheswaran for their commitment, self-motivation, excellent attendance and academic progress, excellent engagement with all staff and students, volunteering for College activities, and being a constant source of encouragement to their peers. Their awards were presented by the Principal of the institution, Dr Sarita Parhi. In their appreciation, the awardees confirmed their allegiance to the institution and thanked the management and staff for their constant source of inspiration and support.
Mr Subramaniam Jegatheswaran
(Student of the Year 2017)
This was concluded by an address by Dr Ravi Kumar, the Executive Director of LSME. In his remarks, he reiterated the future plans of the institution in the area of research development and continuous academic success. He also extended his sincere gratitude to all VIP guests, graduates and members of staff of LSME.
A photography session was held after the Convocation by the Roman wall in the courtyard of the Grange City Hotel, followed by a lunch and cake cutting. The atmosphere presented a unique opportunity for guests, graduates and students to interact with the dignitaries and the academic staff.
