LSME Joins University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development of Panjab University in Conducting UN PRME Workshop in India

London School of Management Education (LSME) in collaboration with University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development (UIFT), Panjab University, India organized the UN PRME Joint Workshop on Education for Responsible Leadership and Research on 29 March 2019 at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The research students from different states in North India who attended the workshop had the opportunity to learn from and discuss with experts about Collaborative Research, Leadership and Management and Sustainable Development from the perspective of UN Principles of Responsible Management Education.

In her Opening Remarks, Dr Prabhdip Brar, Chairperson UIFT, stated that the way forward for sustainable growth and development is for like-minded educational institutions and corporations to collaborate and support with each other in research and development and outlined the aims of the workshop as serving this very objective.

Dr Peter Gray from Norwegian University of Science Technology, Norway addressed the gathering, highlighting the role that UN Principles for Sustainable Development can play in making the world a better and more sustainable place for all.

The Workshop Convener and former Chairperson, Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma added to the discussion by sharing several stories on sustainable leadership and its impact on the environment, the society in general and the financial benefits it entails in the long-run.

The exemplary stories of companies that achieved competitive edge by resorting to sustainable practices and adopting environment-friendly technology were shared by Prof S.K. Chadha from the Panjab University Business School.

The participants took great interest in interacting and debating about the corporate leadership and responsible research in sustainable development during the group discussion session facilitated by Dr Amandeep Marwaha Faculty at University Institute of Applied Management Sciences.

In conclusion, Dr Rita Kant, Faculty at UIFT, PU, pointed out that the world needs change agents and social entrepreneurs who could challenge the exploitative ways of the industries and bring corrective action at the community level.

While thanking the organisers, the participants expressed that the workshop was an eye-opener and that they could hardly wait to bring in the aspects of knowledge gained in their research projects and share the knowledge with their friends and the community.
