LSME Marks World Environment Day 2025 with a Spotlight on the ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ Campaign

The London School of Management Education proudly celebrated World Environment Day on 05^th June 2025 with an inspiring set of activities aimed at raising awareness and empowering students to take action against plastic pollution. This year’s global theme, “Beat the Plastic”, was brought to life through a poster campaign and a powerful guest lecture delivered by LSME’s Chief Research and Innovations Officer, Mr Hassan Shifau.

The highlight of the event was an eye-opening lecture titled “Plastic: Problem or Paradox?” Drawing from impactful visuals and global data, Mr Shifau explored the dual role of plastics in society – how they serve critical purposes in sectors like healthcare, food safety, clean energy, and technology while simultaneously contributing to one of the most pressing environmental crises of our time.

In addition, Mr Shifau also introduced practical steps students can adopt immediately, including reducing single-use plastics, supporting eco-friendly brands, and participating in clean-up initiatives. The event concluded with an interactive reflection where students shared their individual pledges to help “Beat the Plastic Pollution”, echoing the event’s empowering message: “What is in our hands?”
