LSME has Officially Opened Its New Premises in Ilford

LSME has Officially Opened

LSME has officially opened its new premises in Gants Hill (Cambrian House, 509-511 Cranbrook Road, IG2 6EY) in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held on the 20th of April 2017. The event was attended by the Lord Northbrook, Cllr Gurdial Bhamra, the Mayor of the London Borough of Redbridge, Mr Mike Gapes, the MP for Ilford South, HE Mr Hassan Shifau, the Deputy Ambassador for the Republic of Maldives in UK and other representatives of the Local Authorities and notable dignitaries of diplomatic and academic posts in the UK.

The event was highlighted by very impressive and a useful keynote address and remarks from the invited guests, followed by the Ribbon Cutting. Unveiling of the Plaque and a tour of the facilities. In his welcome address, Dr Ravi Kumar, the Director of the institution expressed his gratitude to the guests. He gave a brief highlight of the hurdles encountered in the construction of the premises. Cllr Bhamra welcomed LSME to the Borough and pledged his support for education and development of skills in the local community. In his keynote address, The Lord Northbrook commended LSME for coming this far and highlighted the importance of maintaining equality and respecting diversity.

He added “The success of LSME confirms that the institution has done and is continuing to do what is right for its main partners, the Learners”. Professor Stephen McKinney of the University of Glasgow announced that the brand-new premises with state-of-the-art facilities will provides a conducive environment for learning and a place where our students will remain focused, stay big and worry less because the improved facilities. The building officially opened by the Lord Northbrook and the Cllr Gurdial Bhamra followed by a tour of the facilities. Dr Sarita Parhi, the Principal of the institution delivered the vote of thanks.

This new facility will not only improve the learning experience for students but it is also a place where the institution plans to meet its future objectives for improvement in student engagement and employer engagement strategies. The Institution will also improve its outreach programmes to the local community to ensure a meaningful utilisation of this facility for the betterment of the local environment.
