London School of Management Education (LSME) and the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) forged a collaborative relationship by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on 16th July 2023 at London. A five-member delegation from IUM visited LSME for discussions and formalising the partnership. The fact that the delegation was led by the Vice Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa signifies the importance that IUM places on this relationship. The delegation was met with a warm and congenial welcome by the Principal, Dr Sarita Parhi, Mr Hassan Shifau, Chief Research & Innovation Officer and other Senior Officials of LSME, headed by the Executive Director, Dr Ravi Kumar.
During their meeting, both sides indicated the importance of establishing a pragmatic and result-oriented partnership where both parties use each other’s strengths and create synergies for growth and development. Both parties agreed on creating more opportunities for students to receive greater exposure and build their knowledge. They discussed collaborations in academic research and setting up professional programmes, among other areas of mutual interest.
The MoU document was signed by the Executive Director, Dr Ravi Kumar, on behalf of LSME and by the Vice Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa, on behalf of IUM, in the presence of the delegation from IUM and the Senior Officials of LSME.
The IUM delegation, which included Deputy Vice Chancellor Mohamed Mahid Shareef; Dean of the Kulliyya of Economics and Management Studies Ahmed Munawar; Lecturer Aishath Sinaau and Director of Finance Holdings Khadeeja Haneefa, was given a tour of the facilities.
In their talks, the parties acknowledged that there are great similarities in the growth trajectory of both institutes. LSME and IUM are focused on accelerated development through innovative and creative means. They embrace modern and forward-looking higher education settings for their students and plan to expand their horizons through international partnerships. They foresee great synergies emerging from the momentous Memorandum of Understanding signed between LSME and IUM.
