Panjab University, Chandigarh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the London School of Management Education (LSME) in recognition of the establishment of a new collaborative working arrangement for Responsible Research and Innovation in India. This ceremony took place in London at the LSME Campus in London Borough of Redbridge on 5th February 2018.
This proposal was based on the existing principle that research can be challenging and should be more responsive to social needs and confront some of the threats faced by society in modern times. Both PU and LSME recognise the fact that when more organisations work together, these challenges can be addressed more effectively than when alone. It was clear from a recent collaboration for the August 2016 LSME Conference in Chandigarh that LSME and PU can work well together.
The idea of Responsible Research, although not in itself new, could be a driving force for research at PU and beyond, especially as a means of bringing a wider range of people into the governance of the research process and in developing social innovation in India. This MoU is relevant as it is the first step towards implementing a joint objective to initiate and nurture the culture of Responsible Research and Innovations amongst all participating institutions within the Chandigarh Region Innovation Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC).
The MoU Documents were signed by Dr Ravi Kumar on behalf of LSME and Professor Arun Kumar Grover on behalf of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
