Student Induction May 2016 – Trip to Margate Beach Resort in Kent (News)

LSME welcome its new learners for the May 2016 cohort in an induction ceremony on the 5th of May 2016.

The ceremony was attended by new learners for the Diploma in Education and Training and the HND Business qualifications and all academic members of staff. The Executive Director of the institution, Dr Ravi Kumar gave a welcome address. In his address, he highlighted the key achievements of the institution from its inception in 2007, including the approval for public funding, QAA Review of Educational Oversight and Annual Monitoring, Research Agenda, HESA Data Collection, Prevent Duty obligation of the institution, OIA, Annual Conferences, improvement in infrastructure including Digital Technology and other important milestones achieved. Dr Kumar stressed the importance of our student involvement in the proposed growth plans and the importance of maintaining their level of enthusiasm and motivation throughout the Academic Year. An overview of the SLC administrative support offered in the College was of the essential aspects of the address.

The Principal of the institution, Dr Sarita Parhi also addressed the new learners on the academic standards of the College. She stressed the importance of assignment submission deadlines, attendance and academic malpractices such as cheating, collusion and plagiarism. Most importantly she indicated the need for mutual respect, trust, and support for one another and the creation of meaningful professional relationships throughout their academic journey.

Other areas covered included an introduction to the Welfare and Pastoral Care provision, the College rules and regulations, Health and Safety arrangements, attendance and punctuality, assignment submission deadlines, importance of submitting good quality work, plagiarism, mutual respect and other relevant information related to their chosen programmes. This induction process will continue for the next four weeks for teaching of essential study skills such as Research, Time Management, Plagiarism, Academic Referencing, Understanding Course Specifications and assignment briefs and VLE induction after which feedback for the process will be obtained from the learners.
