LSME Research Book 2020 Launch – Online Event

LSME launched its Research Book 2020 today at a grand ceremony held online attended by an audience of prominent personalities from across the world, including eminent politicians, diplomats, academics, researchers, in addition to the participants of 6th LSME International Research Conference held in London in July/August 2019. This much anticipated publication was released by the Lord Sheikh of House of Lords and Lady Sheikh and while doing so, Lord Sheikh informed that he cannot overemphasise the importance of education and research, which is even symbolised in his coat of arms by the word ‘Iqra’.Stressing on the “need to rebuild our society post Covide-19 pandemic through research and innovation” Lord Sheikh said “as we are coming out of the crisis our moto should be to think green, to achieve growth and create jobs. In fact, we need more research to see how the green revolution can take place to rebuild the economies of various countries.”
The Guest of Honour, H.E Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, Ambassador of Nepal commended the quality and resourcefulness of the papers compiled as the LSME Research Book 2020 and commented that “we need to support these events to provide much needed networking and pool resources to fund responsible and ethical research which would not only benefit one group of people but could help people from other parts of the world facing similar problems.”
“International Research Conference series is part of the long term vision, as research is enshrined in the founding philosophy of LSME” explained Dr Ravi Kumar, Conference Convener highlighting LSME’s special interest in furthering research.
The critical link between responsible research in our real-life, was outlined by Dr Bhagbanprakash, Former Senior Advisor to the Chief Election Commission of India. He said social research needs the researchers to immerse themselves in the reality of the situation, in order to conduct responsible, socially and culturally acceptable research.
Professor Rajan Welukar explained the emergence of data-driven societies, in which our research studies to be meaningful and beneficial require multi, inter and trans-disciplinary approach.
Rishika Bhojwani, as a young researcher who attended the 6th LSME International Research Conference described the conference as a “dream come true and a life-changing experience” due to the excellent design and the resourcefulness of the event.
The Conference Chairman, Professor Stephen McKinney while congratulating “the Conference Committee and all of the staff of the LSME” said “an enormous amount of hard work went into the preparation of the conference itself and the book” and thanked everyone involved in the process.
The 7th LSME International Research Conference, though this time designed to be held virtually, was announced by Dr Sarita Parhi, Principal of LSME. She extended young researchers and experts, interested in Responsible Research and Innovations to register themselves for the Conference, which will be held on 20 August 2020. Mostly importantly, the registration fee for the 2020 Conference has been waived off due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks and by sharing of messages of congratulations and appreciation to LSME by the participants. The Participants expressed their strong desire to meet face-to-face at the earliest opportunity, or else virtually at the 7th LSME International Research Conference.
