International Research Conference 2025

12th LSME International Conference on Responsible Research and Innovation in the Humanities and Social Sciences

  • DATE: 29th - 30th October 2025LOCATION: ONLINE

LSME is delighted to announce the staging of our 12th International Conference, which is scheduled to take place online on 29th and 30th October 2025.

The event will feature a core focus on the principles and practices of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), a theme which has formed the backdrop to the conference series since its inception in 2015.

At this stage, we are very interested to hear from researchers and scholars who may be looking for an open and inclusive platform through which to share their knowledge and findings. The LSME conference series provides a collaborative and collegial environment for the dissemination and exploration of research content for researchers at all levels, from early career participants just starting out to seasoned academics acknowledged for their subject matter expertise.

Partitipants interested in presenting their research at the Conference, should submit a short summary (abstract) with key words for consideration to Conference@lsme.ac.uk by 5th May 2025.

Participation in Conference 2025 is FREE OF CHARGE for presenters and delegates, which represents an exciting and valuable opportunity to gain profile within a widely spread international community of interest and publication in an internationally recognised and supported journal.

All contributions are given full scrutiny by the Conference Committee, via a panel of experienced and qualified academics and researchers. Whilst submission of an abstract may not necessarily guarantee its acceptance, feedback is provided to all contributors so that research concepts and focus may be improved.

What is Responsible Research and Innovation?

Host: Professor Loucas Louca, European University of Cyprus
Guest: Dr Peter Gray, Research & Educational Consultant, LSME International Conference Committee Member

London School of Management Education (LSME) has been championing Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) since the inception of the LSME International Research Conference series in 2015. The overarching theme of all the conferences has since been RRI, and it has become synonymous with the LSME International Research Conferences. Hence, like in previous years, the 12th LSME Conference, scheduled for 29 – 30 October 2025, is titled ‘Responsible Research and Innovations in Humanities and Social Sciences’.

Many of our research community members are early-career researchers, so we support and facilitate their development as researchers with comprehensive knowledge of RRI. We strongly advocate that our world needs all our future generations of researchers to be knowledgeable about RRI. To get more insight into the world of RRI, please listen to an expert who sheds more light on it.

Conference Mission

Our long-standing alignment with the Responsible Research and Innovation agenda provides an overarching mission for the conference, namely to:

  • Promote social justice, inclusion and equity.
  • Increase the influence of research on policy and practice in key impact areas.
  • Increase the commitment of participants in research via active involvement in all stages of an open, principled and inclusive process of investigation and dissemination of findings, including the engagement of research participants.

These principles apply equally to all participants, including researchers, academic observers, delegates and the wider communities touched by research projects explored in the conference.

Conference Objectives

Since 2015, our Core Conference Objectives have remained consistently focused in order to:

  • Provide an inclusive platform fostering an active community of researchers collaborating on issues of social significance and societal concern.
  • Advance the principles and practices of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in support of researchers at all stages of their research journey.
  • Provide an open and accessible mechanism for sharing creative contributions to the research agenda across a range of subjects and disciplinary areas.

Call for Abstracts

In seeking your contribution, LSME requests that your abstract should especially address issues and questions around ‘Practice’ (i.e. what should be done), ‘Theory’ (i.e. why it should be done) and ‘Practical Process’ (i.e. insights and implications for how it should be done). We encourage authors to collaborate across different research fields and to break out of disciplinary ‘silos’.

Areas of interest explored in previous events have included:

Education

  • Higher Education development
  • Improvement of Entry Level education infrastructure, process and policy
  • Online education and pedagogy
  • Creating accessible Adult Education

Technology and Innovation

  • The impact of Artificial Intelligence on education
  • Technology futures and impact on social structures, expectations and norms
  • Tension between business and government
  • Technology as a Social Good

  • Harmonisation of policy across cultural boundaries

Abstracts will be assessed in terms of their relevance to the overall conference theme, and the suggestions above are for guidance only. We particularly encourage originality and creative thinking, and for presenting authors to communicate the impact of their research and its practical application, just as we welcome critical approaches to conventional wisdom!

The deadline for submission is 5th May 2025. Authors will be informed of acceptance by early June.

Final submission of presentation materials and full papers is expected by the end of September 2025. Arrangements for this will be advised to successful participants in June.

Abstracts should be between 300-500 words, and must include:

  • Title
  • Name and institutional affiliation (if any) of author(s)
  • Email address for corresponding author(s)
  • A description of the research to be presented, and its relevance to the conference theme.
  • An assessment of the potential impact of the research, with an emphasis on the benefits to practice in the relevant field(s).

Following Conference 2025 and subject to final peer review and approval, papers will be put forward for the 2026 LSME Research Book, which will be critically edited and distributed ‘open access’ electronically and in print, across the world.
